We had been looking forward to New York "hot dog stand" hot dogs. So: this venue in front of the Met.

As I recall, the hot dog was OK, but nothing special.

We came across this small pond in a park outside Providence. Very nice! Autumn colors,overcast sky, reflections . . .

All the correct ingredients.

In fact, one of my "Best Seller" photos was taken at this location.

(Not only that, but once again I'm astounded by the quality of the jpgs taken by the Olympus C-8080. Amazing. Also, how annoying to hear of Olympus' recent problems!)

Hurricane Floyd - 1999

I was training for a new job in September, 1999 in the town of Columbia, Maryland when Hurricane Floyd swept through the area. As I recall, training went on as usual throughout the period of heaviest rainfall, with some employees leaving early.

I took this photo after hours in the gathering darkness as the rainfall gradually decreased. That's a Minolta 7000i on the tripod, if I'm not mistaken.

Best Seller (Branches & Reflections)

The best selling print this year, by far, was this one. I sold seventeen of them in one form or another (framed, unframed, notecard).

There were five of us walking through a small state park in Rhode Island; we jointly discovered this small pond overhung with autumn leaves. I used the excellent Olympus C-8080 set to take JPEGs; this photo can be, and has been, enlarged to 16x20.

Argia (Mystic)

I was going through my contact sheets for October, 2006 trying to see if I’d overlooked any possible images to put into my booth when I came across this boat pix. Taken in late afternoon in Mystic, Connecticut.

It’s interesting, I think. Going to print it and see if it sells.

New York Rain

Some folks would have been dismayed at the amount of rain coming down. Not photographers. Time for atmospheric park pix and nighttime reflections.

Of course, the light was fairly dim. Luckily, my Olympus C-8080 had a tilting LCD screen, so I was able to rest it on various objects (garbage cans, parking meters), using them as makeshift tripods.

The Cloisters

We visited The Cloisters on an overcast, damp day and wandered about through the artworks and the outside gardens. One particular favorite of mine was "The Annunciation Triptych"—a 16th Century oil painting almost photorealistic in its detail.

This part of New York was quiet and subdued in the luminous October light.

Dan and I were both attracted to the peeling paint and geometric forms of this building’s façade.

Trinity Church & Isack's Studio

The statue in the background is of John Watts, which fact enabled me to do the old Google routine to nail the graveyard as belonging to Trinity Church.

The Isack's Studio photo was taken during a solo camera outing in the Chelsea district, near where we were staying.

Subway

Upper pix: subway platform with blowing paper, Matrix-like.

Lower pix: subway car with two passengers. The person on the left is somewhat ambiguous—is he looking at the photographer, or merely towards the photographer? Max Yavno intensely disliked any photo in which it could be seen that the subject was directly looking at the camera.

Videographer

There's something about the word "videographer" that I dislike.

Yes, sheer irrational dislike. On the other hand, if you think about it, what about the word "cinematographer?" Why isn’t it "cinemagrapher?" Why isn’t "videographer" "videotographer?"

The interesting thing is that I have no recollection of exactly where in New York I took this shot. Probably taken as the Dining Club was off in search of the perfect New York mini-burger.
