After arriving on the train we disembarked and walked around the town of Windsor. We hadn't been here in a while, so most of what we saw was new to us. Highlights: Oliver's, a fancy grocery store, and Machado Burgers where we got burgers with a combo fries and onion rings.
Then the return trip home.

I've listed the location as Sonoma County, but that's a guess. Don't remember taking this, but it's right there on the contact sheet.
"The willet is a particularly elegant and heavily built shorebird" says Wikipedia. So it seems! Bird ID from Barbara, as usual.

Taken in March, 1976, as we were driving up to Elk Cove for a bed and breakfast stay.
Can't remember exactly why we stopped in Cloverdale, but I do remember the cat scooting by me, then leaping up on the fence, waiting there just long enough for me to take the photo.
I used a Nikon F SLR with Panatomic-X film.

Our mini-vacation gave me an opportunity to use some coffee packets we brought back from Japan. Setup is a little intricate: the top margin has to be torn off very carefully, otherwise ground coffee will spill all over.
Then for dinner: pan-fried steak! Somewhat difficult for Hali to manage as the burners weren't quite level. But really quite good.

We saw the first irises of the season at Sea Ranch. Recently they've made a substantial appearance up at Lake Lagunitas in Marin.

When we arrived the weather was nice and sunny. But that was short-lived. Then, rain on and off, but nothing torrential.

We took a mini-vacation in late March, spending a few days in Sea Ranch.
Per the Sea Ranch website: "In the mid 1960’s, a visionary developer identified 10 miles of former sheep ranch on the Northern California coast in Sonoma County as the ideal place to create a planned community. He gathered a group of renowned like-minded professionals – landscape designers, architects, attorneys, planners and ecologists – to create The Sea Ranch, a place where homes and amenities are informed by nature and the environment."
Our rental unit was nice and cozy, with a pretty view when sitting at the dining room table. (Actually, just one large interior room.)

We were parked at a furniture store across the street from a small airport. The older WWII yellow airplane revved up its motor and took off. Quite noisy!
