I drove down Highway 1 past Monterey towards Carmel, then parked in the shade at The Barnyard. Ate my Whole Foods sandwich, then went for a walk around the property.

At the Post Office located near Fairfax and Santa Monica. We were trying to get a prepaid mailing envelope, but that couldn't be done at the counter. No, we had to use an automated machine whose interface was quite opaque.

Rain, Dog Walking (Fairfax) - Marin County  2022

Mike went for a morning walk during one of last December's downpours. Nobody else was out and about, except, of course, dogs and dog walkers. An iPhone 12 Pro photo.

The sound of raindrops hitting the pavement, the fresh smell of wet earth, and the feeling of cool droplets on the skin can all add to the sense of being alive. Dogs, too, seem to enjoy the experience, with their noses in the air, taking in all the new scents that the rain has brought out. The walk can also be a bonding experience, as the owner and the dog navigate the wet and often muddy terrain together.
