The Canon G5XII is great for taking photos in the rain. Nice and small, can be easily tucked under one's parka.

Since we had just eaten our fill of dim sum delicacies we weren't tempted by the bakeries.

Monday Pigeon Blogging

Pigeons (Chinatown) - San Francisco  2023

Pigeons, People (Chinatown) - San Francisco  2023

We went for a family outing to a favorite dim sum restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. Alas, they've done away with the dim sum carts due to the pandemic. Ordering from a menu is not the same experience, obviously, and makes it unlikely that one will discover something new.

Anyway! It was raining, which was nice . . . nice for photos for sure.

Chinese Restaurant

Chinese Restaurant - San Francisco  2016

I was driving through Chinatown / North Beach on my way to The Embarcadero when I took this photo out the car window. (iPhone 6S Plus.)

Anyhoo, that made me decide to return to Chinatown via the Larkspur Ferry for some more pix.

So looking through my Photoshop files I see that I have a bunch of Los Angeles and San Francisco photos. Actually, maybe I'll post them on a random scattershot basis for a while. Yes, sounds like a good idea.

Chinatown - 3

Building "1920" - San Francisco  2015

Brooklyn End - San Francisco  2015

OK, so I had brought along a 45 mm "prime" lens to shoot with, but somehow I never got around to taking off the 14-150 mm "superzoom" lens that I had been using on the ferry. Just very versatile and flexible. Both lenses are by Olympus.

Dim Sum

Let me recommend City View Restaurant on Commercial (just off Kearney) for their dim sum. (This was the most recent Diners' Club selection.)

Commercial is a small alley-like street running from the Financial District to Grant Avenue in Chinatown.
