I never visited Scotty's Castle. I remember going out to the dunes before sunrise, it was so quiet I could hear my heart beating, the blood circulating through my ears. Eerie. Then the fox trotting across the dune.
Also, the flapping of crows' wings sound unusually loud in the desert.In the evening, camping at Texas Springs, a fox veered into my lantern's light, then quickly departed.
