At the end of our street there's a trailhead for the Loma Alta Open Space District. As I was hiking up the fire road recently I saw this young coyote.
I surmise that it's young because, in my experience, coyotes almost never acknowledge my existence. But this one did! Walked in front of me, then noticed me, turned around (!), walked back a little, stared, then continued on its way.
I was carrying an Olympus E-M1II with a 14-150mm telephoto lens.
