Yvonne De Carlo Star - Los Angeles 2022 |
"In 1971, she played Carlotta Campion and introduced the popular song "I'm Still Here" in the Broadway production of the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies."
Last October Mike happened to be walking on Hollywood Blvd and was pleased to see Ms. De Carlo's star, as he's a great fan of the original cast album of Sondheim's Follies.

I’m fondest of her in Captain’s Paradise, a comedy starring Alec Guinness.
How many stars are there on that pavement?
Nice reference! I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that a Yvonne De Carlo 1953 movie is pretty obscure.
"The world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame features more than 2,500 terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalk along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street. The five-pointed stars honor the accomplishments of actors, musicians, directors, producers and others in the entertainment industry."
Mike: Captain’s Paradise is a classic Alec Guinness British comedy about a commercial merchant ship captain whose duty is ferrying tourists back and forth between Gibraltar and the UK. He has a wife in each port, a prim British middle class lady in Britain, and a sexy flamboyant dancer in Gibralter. I won’t spoil any more of the plot for you.
There's a trailer on Youtube . . .
