I visited Great Basin National Park in the 1990s; I passed by the entrance - not entering the park - in 2016. So the park this time was relatively new to me.
It turns out that there's basically one road in the main section of the park . . . winding up and up towards a 10,000 foot trailhead. I couldn't help but notice a scattering of dead trees throughout the forest; I was able to get a photo shooting out the car window. By the way, I first noticed the dead tree issue in 2016.
