Kyoto from Arashiyama - Japan 2014 |
Oi River (Arashiyama) - Japan 2014 |
Arashiyama, just west of Kyoto, is famed for its scenic qualities, temples and bamboo groves. Plus, I'd never been there before. So we took an early Sunday train from Kyoto to the Arashiyama Station.
Right away I could sense that there might be an issue: the train was packed, with everyone getting out at Arashiyama. We walked further west over the Oi River and climbed a steep hill towards the Iwatayama Monkey Park and got a nice view of Kyoto. As we were hiking the number of excursioners in town continued to increase.
