Just before my Epson printer stopped working I tried printing one of these photos. The print looked a little strange . . . the buildings are so desaturated that they display as black and white, with some color in the grass. Huh.

I was the first one on the trail, so these birds were having a nice rest on the bridge until I showed up. I was perfectly willing to let them stay there while I tiptoed past, but as I got gradually closer with the Nikon they decided to leave.
And, as a bonus, this photo of an egret in flight! A lucky shot . . . the Nikon is not known for its BIF (birds in flight) capability.

Very preliminary. I don't know if anything from the sketch has made it into the final plan.
I saw it laying on our breakfast table in the Eugene AirBnB. Anyway . . . what interests me is that I find the iPhone photo of the sketch to have a certain trompe l'oeil quality. ("Trompe l'oeil is a style of painting that's so realistic that it appears to be three-dimensional.")
By the way, trompe l'oeil is pronounced "trump loy."
