Construction Yard / Truth Be Told

Construction Yard, Self-Portrait - Marin County  2024

Truth Be Told, Self-Portrait - Marin County  2024

I don't know if including one's feet in a photo counts as a self-portrait (as in the enigmatic photo above). You be the judge.

Both photos taken during a very hot day last September, while taking a car repair walk.

Sycamore Leaves

Sycamore Leaves - Marin County  2024

Sycamore? Or Plane tree? I've never bothered to figure out the differences. Both photos taken with an Olympus E-M1II camera.

SP Taylor Park Sightems - 2

Maple Trees - Marin County  2024

Redwood Trees - Marin County  2024

This area reminds me of the forest moon of Endor.

A remote moon in the Endor system of the Outer Rim Territories, Endor was covered in dense woodlands, tall mountains, and savannas, and home to the sentient Ewok, Dulok, and Yuzzum species.

No Ewoks to be seen though.

SP Taylor Park Sightems - 1

Ferns - Marin County  2024

Maple Leaves - Marin County  2024

I took these photos with a truly lightweight combo: an Olympus E-M10 camera / Panasonic Lumix 12-60mm lens. I just looked it up - I bought the Olympus in February, 2015. Almost 10 years old now! Still works just fine, although some of the words on the buttons ("Menu" etc.) are getting worn off.

Lagunitas Creek - Marin County  2024

Salmon, Lagunitas Creek - Marin County  2024

Neat! Seen during a walk that I took with Hali, Hanna and Nolan in late November.

More detailed info found at an earlier 2022 post.

Masa's Birthday!

Maz, Hanna - San Francisco  2016

Wow! Taken with an iPhone 6s. I've been using Masa instead of Maz (both are OK) because it's easier to form the possessive using Masa.

Actually, his birthday is tomorrow, but tomorrow is Monday Blogging day.

Condo Sightems

Condo Building, Tree, Shadows (Fairfax) - Marin County  2024

Motorcycle (Fairfax) - Marin County  2024

Seen on our regular morning walk. I used two Olympus cameras: an E-M10 / 12-60mm zoom Panasonic (Lumix) lens for the top photo, and an E-M1II / 14-150mm zoom lens for the bottom one.

Hanna's Birthday!

Hanna Pushing Lawnmower Toy, Mike - Marin County  2014

Somehow this is a top and bottom two-photo merge. Don't know what prompted that.

Taken with an Olympus E-M1 / 14-150mm combo.

Monday Squirrel Blogging

Squirrel (Fairfax) - Marin County  2024

We saw the creature scampering along the top of the chain link fence. Quite agile!

Fortunately I was carrying my Olympus E-M1II / 14-150mm lens combo.

Mt. Diablo

Mt. Diablo from Sky Oaks Road (Lake Lagunitas) - Marin County  2024

Every time I drive up to Lake Lagunitas I pause for a moment at this spot to see if I can spot Mt. Diablo. Usually I can't, but this time I could! Rolled down the window and took this photo using a Nikon Z7II.

The vertical shot is from a recent scan. I like that it includes the Winston Lights billboard.

The horizontal one has a self-portrait in it!

Marin Civic Center

Civic Center Interior - Marin County  2024

Civic Center Exterior - Marin County  2024

So . . . jury duty! And it turns out that even if you're elderly you can't be excused!

So . . . I (and others) showed up, waited around for about half a day, went down to the courtroom, then we were notified that the case had been settled. Thanks for your service!

Later in the month Hali and I visited a "Senior Fair" being held at the civic center auditorium. The main building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; he didn't do the auditorium but it was done in his style.

Turkeys

Turkeys (Fairfax) - Marin County  2022

Turkeys cleverly constructed by Hanna and Nolan a few years ago. Materials and, quite possibly, the idea, supplied by Hali.

Note the use of horse chestnuts from the California Buckeye tree up the street.

Mt. Tamalpais (1984)

SF Theological Seminary, Mt Tamalpais - Marin County  1984

We moved to Marin County in 1981, so this was taken a few years later. Although I don't remember taking this photo, I assume that I was at the same viewpoint that I discussed in 2009.

(Side note: the photos in my earlier blog posts won't enlarge when clicked upon . . . annoying.)

Monday Cat Blogging

Cloudy - Berkeley  2014

We were over in Berkeley so that Margaret and Jim could check out my new Sony RX100VII. When we arrived we were gratified to see that Cloudy was hanging around their front yard. Then it transpired that Cloudy was being let into their house! Wow!

I took a photo of Cloudy on the living room carpet, but with not enough space above the creature's head in the photo. So I added some extra carpet using Photoshop. (Original shot below.)

Wells Fargo / Ansel Adams

Wells Fargo Bank Interior (A. Adams Images) - San Anselmo  2024

Ansel Adams Image ("Pasture, Sonoma County") - San Anselmo  2024

I was recently in the Wells Fargo Bank in San Anselmo and noticed these large Ansel Adams images handing on the wall. I should probably do some investigative reporting and get back to you with the details of how they came to be there.

The Ansel Adams Gallery has the pasture photo for sale as a "framed reproduction."
