I guess those are oak branches in the top photo.
Rain, Dog Walking (Fairfax) - Marin County 2022 |
Mike went for a morning walk during one of last December's downpours. Nobody else was out and about, except, of course, dogs and dog walkers. An iPhone 12 Pro photo.
The sound of raindrops hitting the pavement, the fresh smell of wet earth, and the feeling of cool droplets on the skin can all add to the sense of being alive. Dogs, too, seem to enjoy the experience, with their noses in the air, taking in all the new scents that the rain has brought out. The walk can also be a bonding experience, as the owner and the dog navigate the wet and often muddy terrain together.

Kind of ironic that Mr. ChatGPT can throw in a phrase like "the sense of being alive."

Winter Hillside (Fairfax) - Marin County 2023 |
Both photos were taken with a recent purchase: a Nikon Z 40mm "prime" lens. Much smaller and lighter than my regular go-to 24-200mm zoom lens. So far, so good!

Same trucks as were pictured last May, but with different angles and a self portrait.

Not our backyard. Barbara's. (Latest in a series.)

Baseball Field, Rain (Fairfax) - Marin County 2023 |
Not just baseball, but also soccer. And you can see some basketball stuff in the background. I regularly walk past here in the AM.
Point being that during the recent rains, navigating through the area took some stepping in mud.

Aguereberry Point - Death Valley 1973 |
The first in a series of photos that I took in 1973 - 50 years ago. (Probably already posted on the blog.)
Aguereberry Point in Death Valley was a favorite location of my brother Joe and myself. For one thing there was an outhouse that, when the door was flung open, provided an outstanding view. This photo was taken at sunset . . . we had planned to camp there overnight (against the regulations) but an encounter with a park ranger changed our minds.
Camera used was a Nikon F loaded with Panatomic-X film.

Leaves, Rain, Self Portrait (Fairfax) - Marin County 2022 |
iPhone photos. I think that I had my Olympus camera tucked inside my parka, but the iPhone was more convenient to use in the heavy rain.
