I think I took these with a Tachihara 4x5 view camera. For a long time I blamed the camera for light leaks in my negatives, only to realize, much later, that the leaks were due to the film holders.

Perched on a fence at Pierce Point Ranch. I took a few photos with my Nikon Z5, but wanted to get a closer shot. He patiently waited while I took off my daypack and retrieved an Olympus EM1II with a 75-300mm zoom attached. Much better!

This photo is certainly nicer than my earlier Zion bluebird one.

"Summer mustard, sometimes also called short-pod mustard (Hirschfeldia incana) and black mustard (Brassica nigra) are common rangeland weeds on California's Central Coast. Summer mustard seems to be the more common species. It usually lives for two years or sometimes longer, can grow up to 4 feet tall, and has pale yellow flowers (DiTomaso, Kyser et al. 2013). Black mustard, on the other hand, is an annual plant and is taller (growing up to 6 feet tall), with flowers that are brighter yellow than summer mustard." (Rao, How to Control Mustard with Grazing).

The day was bright and hazy, unlike some of my earlier foggy visits. Many of the photos seemed to favor a black and white approach.

Just before you get to the parking lot at Pierce Point Ranch there's a pullout featuring a Tomales Bay overlook. I tried the Nikon Z5 with a 24-200mm lens, but needed the longer reach of an Olympus micro-fourthirds telephoto lens for this shot.
