Mulholland

Mulholland Fountain - Los Angeles  2012

William Mulholland - Los Angeles  2012

"Either you bring the water to L.A., or you bring L.A. to the water."

- Chinatown

In his last visit to Los Angeles, Mike stopped by the Mulholland Fountain on Los Feliz Blvd. near Griffith Park.

As we all recall, Mr. Mulholland was a main factor in the growth of the city.  By diverting water from the Owens Valley he insured that L.A. would be able to provide for its grotesque population growth. In fact, driving through Owens Valley today one actually feels somewhat grateful to Mr. Mulholland. If it were not for him, Owens Valley today would most likely be wall-to-wall condominiums.

"A fictionalized version of the story was used as the basis for the 1974 Roman Polanski film Chinatown. The character of Hollis I. Mulwray appears to be drawn from Mulholland." (Wikipedia)

You got your fountain picture! Guess a little Mulholland blaugh, blaugh was needed. Like the Getty Banner and all your scenic road pictures - Farley wants to come visit for walks. Pat

I shoulda put way more stuff in there about Mulholland, worked in a metaphor or two . . . maybe a simile.

We'll have to see about putting Farley in a Monday Blogging post someday.
