Mike filled his thermos with hot water, then set off to visit the lower elevation landscape between his campground and Red Bluff.
After some false starts, he managed to find a side road leading to High Trestle Road, where he parked and made some Starbucks instant coffee and had a protein bar. Very little traffic - a pickup truck now and then. Area was very dry and obviously highly flammable.
