You can see a lot of these going up in the Hollywood area: old houses being torn down and very large houses (not actually "mansions," but still . . . ) being built on the properties.
Above example from the corner of Waring and Ogden, a block up from Melrose Avenue. There's a website with renderings . . . don't know how long it'll be up.
