The composition seems slightly more balanced in the cloudy photo (with the fence post slightly lower), but I prefer the textures and tones in the sunny photo.
I have to say, after looking at the two pix again, that there really isn't as much difference between them as I had originally thought. (Probably due to Photoshop tinkering.)
