Seen from above, they attain a solidity that normally eludes our worms-eye view: the plane, diving into the clouds, shudders and shakes.
And looking out the window I was pleasantly surprised to find an O’Keeffeian abstraction—quick, grab the G9!
Of course, if I had been shooting film, I would not have been so reckless in the amount of exposures.

Love these! I'm flying out to Montana in August, so I'm not looking forward to that "shudder and shake"! I know it all too well.
Actually, the flight out was pretty sedate. The trip back was boring and bouncy. Boring because the cloud cover totally obscured the view.
Montana: Big Sky Country! Digital SLR Country! Wow!
Yep, that's usually when a flight gets bouncy...when there is total cloud cover, and from the looks of your pics, those were cumulous clouds=turbulence. (top photo) We'll be spending a few days in Glacier, so it should be a good chance for photos. Ever been there?
Yellowstone, yes, but Glacier, alas, no.
Pretty soon the glaciers will be gone, I hear, so now is the time.
