Macarons - Vancouver  2017

Famous pastry shop in Vancouver, known for their macarons, which were OK, I guess.

But we much prefered their croissants, purchased there and taken to the nearest Starbucks to have with drip coffee. No problem finding a Starbucks, as there seems to be one every half-block.

For some reason I never got a photo of the croissants. Ate them too fast most likely.

Never had a good cup of Starbuck's. Very very bitter.

Peet's here is head and shoulders above them.

Starbuck's seems to offer primarily sugar drinks, which camouflage the lack of coffee flavor.

All the coffee stores here seem designed to accommodate people with lap-tops.

Whenever I go to them, there are 5-15 people typing away, in a world of their own.

Huh. You know, there are those who think exactly the opposite! (In the Peet's/Starbucks matchup.) Go figure.

I myself sit in the Starbucks at San Rafael's Target-By-The-Bay, reading photo blogs on my iPhone, in a world of my own.

Neither is a perfect cup of coffee, not as good as what I make at home, but each has its place in an emergency. I do need an afternoon cup of coffee, a latte if I'm out.

I, myself, need an afternoon Coke Zero.

We'll have to wait and see about its replacement.
