Campground Morning

Campground, AM (Glen Camp) - Point Reyes  2019

During the night the sound of the nearby ocean surf was clearly audible . . . nice. (Couldn't hear it during the day.) I got up pretty early, as usual, everyone else in camp still in their tents. Made some Starbucks instant coffee, had a protein bar, then took my time packing up.

Finally ready to go at around 8:00 AM. Hiked on out with almost everyone still in their tents.

When I was a boy, our family took several camping trips.

We weren't big hikers, so these were the typical drive-in kind of camping grounds.

They had restrooms, or closet toilets, and running water but no showers.

When I traveled around in the 1980's & 90's, I used my six-pack camper shell. I could stop just about anywhere,
as long as I wasn't trespassing. It had all the amenities except a shower.

Today, I don't think I could go without showering. I would go two days without a bath, checking into a motel the
next day.

When I was younger, I could wake up in the morning and shake off the sweat and grime, and move on to the day's challenges. But it gets harder as you age.

I admire your tenacity. But I think you enjoy it, even if you don't get good pictures.

If I were to go back to traveling with a camera now, it would be different. The days of the big cameras are over.

Easy in, easy out. Get the shot you need, and make a getaway.

If one is to camp/baackpack, one needs to cultivate the ability to go without showers.
