I took these Oakland photos with a new lens: the Olympus 14-42mm EZ ("electronic zoom") lens. I ultimately returned it because the results I was getting with it seemed pretty soft . . . needed quite a bit of sharpening work in Photoshop.
Although the Oakland pix look quite all right.

Beautiful images here, Mike. I particularly like the first image. To me it is a what a black an white photography should like, showing a complete range of tones. Very nice work!

Of course I agree, but unfortunately these kind of pix would never sell in my booth.
