We were a few minutes walk from the Sotetsu Line's Nishi Yokohama (West Yokohama) station. Regular commuter trains went from there to the main Yokohama downtown station, where one can transfer to a variety of different destinations.
The station also got bypassed on a regular basis by various express trains, whizzing on by.
If you're presently in Japan, you should try to get to Kyoto and Nara.
ReplyDeleteI spent 5 weeks in Kyoto in 1985, photographing the gardens and temples with my 4x5, making Ektachromes. Terrific fun.

I first went to Kyoto in 1966, on my way back from Okinawa clutching a Nikon F that I had recently purchased at the Army PX. Also, we've taken some recent trips there. One visit to Nara in 2014.
